A message from the desk of mayor: Mark-Paul Serafin

Mayor Mark-Paul Serafin

I was deeply saddened to learn that Father Kevin Hannon had recently undergone major surgery and is facing additional post-operative treatment.

I have known Father Kevin since he was as Associate Pastor at Immaculate Conception Church (my home parish) in the early 1980's. He is a kind, caring, giving soul who has been embraced by the Village of Manlius where he is currently Pastor of St. Ann's Church. He has had a profound impact on our youth, has been instrumental in the launch of the F-M Food Pantry, and has helped strengthen the spirtual fabric of our community.

But, best of all, Father Kevin takes the time to stop, have a chat and brighten the day with a smile whenever our paths cross with his.

It is my sincere hope that Father Kevin and his parishoners find comfort in knowing that the Village of Manlius is holding all of them close to our hearts and praying for his full and speedy recovery. We have installed green lights at the Swan Pond that will burn brightly every night until Father's smiling Irish eyes are back home at St. Ann's in Manlius, right where they belong.

I'm also encouraging village residents and businesses to put a green bulb in their porch light, lamp post, or window as a symbolic expression that our affection for this amazing man and priest, is evergreen.

God bless you Father Kevin, You make all our lives in Manlius wonderful!
